No that was a stupid idea.
Perhaps the previous owner had the bus boosted by another accelerator earlier? Then it makes sense to have 32 MHz on the ext. Or perhaps preparation to replace the accelerator for a new one.
I think it's safe to say it's pretty pointless now anyway :)
